Getting free gift cards online is great... I mean who wouldn't love getting free stuff online, especially when that free gift allows you to go shopping. Although, the allure of free gift cards may be very enticing, you should be careful when surfing the web for these great freebies. Along with a great many legitimate companies offering the public legitimate free gift cards, there are also a ton on scammers looking to lure unsuspecting “suckers” into giving out sensitive personal information. There are a few things that you can keep in mind to help keep you safe from these scam artists.

When you break it down it really comes down to common sense, something that many of us (including myself) are tempted to over look when being offered something as amazing as free gift cards. Keep in mind the old saying “If it's too good to be true, it probably is!”. There are a few rules that you can keep in mind that will help you stay clear of any scams.

Rules number one is never ever.... ever give out any financial information. There is no reason why you should ever be asked for your credit card number or bank account information no matter what the prizes is or what the reasons behind the requests. If you are ever asked for any sensitive information like that you can bet they you are being scammed.

Rule number two is that if you are ever asked to download something in order to progress with the offer... DONT! It is more then likely that what you are downloading is riddled with viruses and spy-ware. Once again, use your common sense, why in the world would you need to download something in order to complete an odder for a free gift card.

The last rules is simple. You should never have to buy something in order to get a gift card that is being offered for “free”. If you use you head and common sense you can completely avoid being scammed while search for free gift cards online.
